Year 2023

One of the most successful ASICS sagas keeps evolving and adding new versions. Everything seems to point to the ASICS Noosa Tri 15 arriving to the market with few technological changes in its midsole, but with some improvements in the aesthetic and functional aspects of its chassis and upper to improve the running experience. Of course, maintaining the hallmark of its disruptive and eye-catching design, but also with a more updated touch. It is even inspired by one of the eternal painters like Vincent Van Gogh, being a more sustainable model than in previous versions.

In this way, the ASICS Noosa Tri 15 continues to remain as that option for triathletes of all levels, who are looking for a running shoe with an optimal balance between cushioning, response, lightness and comfort to face the last and final segment of the competition with the maximum guarantees. A model that offers total contact with the ground.

Runner profile of the ASICS Noosa Tri 15

Due to its characteristics and performance, we do not speak of this ASICS Noosa Tri 15 as a racing shoe, but as a shoe with a broader concept, and it works well as a high performance mixed shoe, which will fit you for training, series and changes of pace, but also for competition, and moving at lively rhythms, but without reaching the efficiency and speed that a running shoe with plate can provide you. In principle they are designed for all types of distances, but they are a safe valor for longer distances on asphalt.

In principle, runners with a neutral stride and intermediate weights are the target audience for these ASICS Noosa Tri 15. It's a perfect choice for running at really demanding paces, which will make you put the clock around 4:30 min/km, and even faster. The shoe has enough cushioning and comfort for any distance, but also enough responsiveness to run fast.

What are the main features of the new ASICS Noosa Tri 15?

Putting into context that the 2023 World Triathlon Series and 2023 Triathlon World Cup Olympic, sprint and supersprint events calendar has been underway since last March, ASICS staff have been working flat out to present the fifteenth version of the Gel Noosa Tri as one of the big releases of the year. At the right time when triathletes are experimenting the most, as well as starting out, they are ready to bring out their best in every racing segment.

As we have already pointed out, this renewed latest version of the Gel Noosa Tri does not bring with it many variations on a technological level, because the product developers of the Japanese brand have played it safe, and maintained what has worked best for them in the midsole of the ASICS Gel Noosa Tri 14

This means that the technologies applied will remain the same:

  • FlyteFoam: foam that ensures soft, lightweight and efficient shock absorption cushioning.
  • Guidesole: innovative technology, which together with the pronounced curvature of the front part of the midsole, contributes to reduce ankle flexion, facilitating impulse and generating greater energy return with each step.
  • AHAR Plus: rubber compound, which is placed in the most strategic points of the outsole to add more resistance and durability in the areas most exposed to wear.

So, trying to answer the question: what are the main novelties of these ASICS Noosa Tri 15? In its upper appears a new redesign with the purpose of improving the support and breathability, but also the lightness of the whole shoe.

Such is so that the engineered mesh is configured in a way it appears more perforated to increase the degree of ventilation of the model, but also that is able to better adapt to the shape of the foot. It is also striking that the ASICS logo already serves a purely aesthetic function. It leaves the midfoot area to dress up and add a touch of distinction to the front of the shoe. His drawing appears on the side. All with those pastel tones so characteristic of Van Gogh's paintings.

While the interchangeable lacing system and tongue favor a more personalized fit with its toggle closure. As in previous versions, the heel strap makes it easier to put the shoe on and take it off more quickly and easily to minimize wasted time.

But it is also very significant that the forefoot area has undergone a higher curvature, and points even higher. A technological resource that seeks to increase running efficiency, and therefore, the runner's speed.

We did not forget that these ASICS Noosa Tri 15 also include the exclusive Solution Dye insole, manufactured with a more sustainable dyeing process, because it reduces the use of water and carbon emissions. It even shows the Japanese brand's commitment to producing and marketing a vegan product.

Technical specifications of the ASICS Noosa Tri 15

In the chapter of the technical specifications of the ASICS Noosa Tri 15, and despite the changes experienced in the curvature of the front, this shoe maintains a drop of 5 millimeters, while its weight is consolidated in the 215 grams, which indicates that you will have the option of putting on a running shoe very well balanced in terms of cushioning, lightness and response.

Review of ASICS Noosa Tri 15

29 July 2023

ASICS NOOSA TRI 15, endurance in the carbon era

Once again these shoes in my hands, or rather in my feet. I was in love with the ASICS Noosa Tri 14, and now with their successor it was not going to be less. So the ASICS Noosa Tri 15 follow the same path, but with some improvements. That's why they are still one of my favorite running shoes.

I had the opportunity to debut doing reviews with the ASICS Noosa Tri 14, and a year later I can return to review the ASCIS Noosa Tri 15. In certain things they have similarities such as the strip of the tongue that along with the fastening laces that the Japanese brand incorporates with the shoes make the transitions faster and more comfortable.

They continue to use GUIDESOLE technology in the midsole to help reduce ankle flexion. I just put on this model and my sensation has been the same as putting on a sock. Its mesh upper and the cushioned feel thanks to the incorporation of the shock absorbing FLYTEFOAM continue to make these ASICS Noosa Tri 15 shoes truly comfortable.

I look at it and it reminds me a lot of another ASICS model. Doesn't it remind you of the ASICS Magic speed 2? Maybe because of the lines of the upper and midsole. This time the Japanese brand wanted to make a nod to another bestseller of the brand, but in the Noosa Tri 15 range they remain faithful to their predecessors and do not incorporate carbon plate. In my opinion, this is a good choice, as it turns them into a full-fledged mixed shoe.

It should be noted that they continue to choose bright colors, this time the noosa tri 15 wear the colors of the paintings of VAN GOGH.

What kind of runners are the ASICS Noosa Tri 15 for?

Once again, the Japanese brand has triathletes as a reference in its 15th edition of the Noosa Tri. Focused on neutral and light weight triathletes with medium to high paces, they are undoubtedly a great option to consider.

These ASICS Noosa Tri 15 still have a very light weight as you can see when you hold them in your hand. As I mentioned earlier, their GUIDESOLE technology in the midsole and FLYTEFOAM cushioning make these Noosa Tri 15 a shoe that will help us in our transitions by reducing ankle flexion and helping to conserve energy.

These ASICS Noosa Tri 15 again incorporate AHAR technology that increases their durability. They have also raised a little toe to help us to have more speed.

It should be noted that, along with the shoes, ASICS incorporates fastening laces that we like so much to those who practice triathlon. This detail may go unnoticed, but it is a plus point over its rivals. However I just had the opportunity to test these models and they did not come with fast laces, so I had to try them with those of the Noosa Tri 14.

For what distances do we recommend the ASICS Noosa Tri 15?

After putting a lot of miles on the Noosa Tri 14 and even competing with them in short and medium distances, I can confirm that these ASICS Noosa Tri 15 follow the same line and I will continue to bet on them for those distances at fast paces or not ... I know people who have even worn them for long distances such as an Ironman.

It remains a mixed shoe that is not only for competition, but also for our day to day training. If I go on vacation and I have to take a shoe for everything, it is clear what would be my choice.

What we liked most about the ASICS Noosa Tri 15

After testing these striking ASICS Noosa Tri 15, there are 2 points that I liked the most about them. And I still think the same as with the previous version of the Noosa Tri 14.

The first point to highlight is its great comfort and the great sensation that it provides when you put on these Asics. Thanks to its mesh upper and shock absorbing FLYTEFOAM cushioning, this triathlon shoe feels really comfortable.

These noosa tri 15 make their second strong point a shoe designed for the triathlete, how many of them want a comfortable shoe, medium to high pace and also help us in our transitions? Well, once again the Japanese brand has done it again.

Opportunities for improvement in the ASICS Noosa Tri 15

I write again the same as a year ago, I live in the north of Spain, a place with spectacular green landscapes thanks to the rain, but with a bad terrain for the grip of the ASICS Noosa Tri 15. When you wear them, you feel that they have no grip, that they do not traction. But at least they do not slip when making a turn and although I will say in their favor that the sole has improved a little, this time they bet on the same sole as their top sales with carbon plate that I did not have the opportunity to test.

With which models can we compare the ASICS Noosa Tri 15?

Few brands release a triathlon-focused shoe like ASCIS. These Noosa Tri 15 may have few competitors in this sector. Here are several models.

Final conclusions of the ASICS Noosa Tri 15

As I said with its little sister in these ASICS Noosa Tri 15, I still think exactly the same: they are shoes by and for triathlon. Designed to give comfort and ease to the triathlete in their transitions. They are a Mixed Shoe where the medium-high paces will get their maximum performance. For those triathletes who do not want to have a different shoe for racing and another for training.

I want to highlight the small improvement in the outsole and the higher toe box.

Without a doubt the NOOSA TRI saga in its 15th edition are still my favorite multipurpose shoe. I AM IN LOVE.
