Mizuno Wave Catalyst 2

A few months have passed since its debut in 2016, and Mizuno has already presented the second version of the Wave Catalyst, which continues to remain a stability shoe to offer maximum performance to pronator runners in fast workouts. The combination of support, cushioning and lightness make the Mizuno Wave Catalyst 2 present a series of slight tweaks with respect to the original model to improve both its fit and its cushioning capacity.

Thus, the evolution of the Mizuno Wave Catalyst 2 is focused on its renewed upper, in which the Japanese brand has opted for a lighter and more breathable mesh in the forefoot area. Not forgetting that this stability shoe also brings with it the DynamotionFit system, which provides a more adaptable fit to the foot, increasing flexibility and safety.

Improved responsiveness and durability for regular workouts

As in the first edition of the Wave Catalyst, there is also the new Soft First Touch construction, in which the characteristic Wave platform incorporates a series of notches on the lateral part of the heel. This feature helps to soften the first impact of the foot on the ground. In addition, the Wave platform is made of Pbax RNew, an ecological material that is more durable and lighter than conventional material.

On the other hand, Mizunos new U4ic midsole compound and expanded rubber outsole ensure that the Mizuno Wave Catalyst 2 provides optimal cushioning and a softer feel with every stride. On the front part of the sole itself there are also some flex cuts, which come to reinforce the stability section of the shoe.

In short, the Mizuno Wave Catalyst 2 offers improved responsiveness and durability for regular workouts. The Wave Catalyst 2 is designed for lightweight runners -under 70 kilos-, and for series sessions. Medium to heavy runners can also use it as a racing shoe option. The model still maintains the 10-millimeterdrop with a weight of 280 grams for the men's model, and 225 grams for the women's version.
