The Japanese firm has just presented in its catalog of running and, facing the spring summer season 2015, the ninth edition of this Mizuno Wave Ekiden, a flying shoe with which the Galician athlete Javier Gomez Noya was proclaimed for the fourth time, world champion in the demanding discipline of triathlon, held in the Canadian city of Edmonton.

The renewed Mizuno Wave Ekiden is not a shoe made to measure for any runner, as it has been designed to fly and compete on asphalt, with times under 3:30 per kilometer and is characterized by itsextreme lightness with its 210 grams of weight. It is a very well-made shoe and quite reliable when it comes to demanding races, with a marked minimalist character5 mm drop) and focused on runners with a neutral stride.

In a nice nod to Gomez Noya and the discipline of triathlon, the Japanese firm founded in 1906 in the city of Osaka, has designed this Mizuno Wave Ekiden 9 shoe in a tricolor combination (white, black and green) and with an avant-garde style.

In broad strokes, the ninth version of this competition shoe focused on both genders is broken down into the Wave platform, made with a special resin, and the midsole with the U4iC cushioning compound that provide it with lightness. The various types of lugs on the G3 outsole provide excellent traction. As for stability, it is provided by a racing class last and very flat, but with the toe slightly lower than the classic flyers. Finally, the soft synthetic suede reinforcements make the Mizuno Wave Ekiden 9 fit your foot like a glove.

SmoothRide Technology

This technology minimizes the abrupt accelerations and decelerations of the foot that occur when running during the three phases of the foot strike: heel strike, rotation and propulsion. This reduces the vibrations resulting from the impact of the foot against the asphalt, while optimizing the flexibility of the shoe. In addition, foot strike transitions are more fluid, achieving an optimal acceleration angle. This is achieved through the use of pioneering cushioning materials, strategically placed flex cuts in the outsole and a Wave platform with less pronounced waves.

Wave technology

The Wave midsole is the most efficient method of distributing and reducing the impact of forces. Its work begins the moment the foot makes contact with the ground by dispersing energy away from the heel and out of the shoe, cushioning the foot in each and every one of the three phases of the stride.

Materials used in the Mizuno Wave Ekiden 9 shoe

X-10 compound

El X is Mizuno's most durable solid rubber compound. It is always placed in the areas of the foot most likely to impact the ground, thus contributing to prolonging the life of the shoe and optimizing traction.

Airmesh

This special material is used in the upper of the shoe to maintain a high level of breathability, helping to keep the foot cool and ventilated at all times.

New cushioning material for the midsole. U4IC has the same cushioning properties as AP+, but is much lighter. This makes running much lighter.

G3 outsole

A new outsole structure, which enhances traction where it is most needed, while making the running shoe lighter.

Pebax RNEW

Material used in the Wave platform, made from ecologically sustainable vegetable oils. It retains all the technical properties of traditional Pebax and also emits less carbon dioxide in the manufacturing process.
