Since its first steps, the combination of cushioning and stability has been one of the raisons d'être of a brand as prestigious as Mizuno. Its journey of offering models of guarantees to the runner who requires maximum stability comes from afar with its mythical Inspire family, and closer in time with the Paradox and Catalyst sagas . However, in 2017, Mizuno took a step forward with the presentation of one of its most innovative models in terms of pronation control: the Mizuno Wave Horizon.
After the success of its original version, the Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 arrives with the same hallmarks: keeping excess pronation at bay without giving up on enjoying maximum cushioning in each step, and making it softer and more comfortable.
So the changes that come in the Horizon 2 are aimed at improving the dynamics and comfort of the shoe in pursuit of obtaining a significant increase in the performance of the shoe. All of this means that runners will be able to take their training to the next level.
The Osaka company's exclusive SmoothRide support technology, working in conjunction with the CloudWave system, results in an extremely comfortable, but also more supportive run.
This increased comfort comes from lightening the upper of the shoe, while that signature Mizuno wave shape appears on the bottom to ensure support with every stride.
The latest of Mizuno's ultimate cushioning capabilities, whose mission is to deliver the most responsive possible for a smoother, more agile, comfortable and stable run.
Thus, unprecedented cushioning is developed from the double Wave in the shape of an inverted "L" on the medial side. This feature corrects the last phase of pronation and provides reactivity in the last phase of the stride (swing phase).
As in its predecessor, the midsole of the Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 also includes two of its star materials: U4ic in the upper with the purpose of offering softness and reinforced cushioning. And in the lower part, U4icX, which also favors cushioning capacity, while adding extra stability and responsiveness. In addition, the U4icX material is also inserted just below the insole to increase the soft feel.
The Engineered Mesh of the Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 is computer-designed with three different types of mesh, offering different levels of support and breathability.
As the essence of the Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 remains unchanged, this stability control shoe is still aimed at heavy runners, weighing over 80 kilos, who, in addition to maximum pronation control, need an excellent level of comfort.
In terms of technical specifications, the Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 maintains the 12-millimeter drop and the same weights, gram up, gram down: 280 grams for the women's model and 340 grams for the men's version.
