The thirteenth edition of the Mizuno Wave Inspire continues to maintain the important changes seen in its predecessor the Wave Inspire 12, where the main focus of the update was to improve the cushioning and comfort, although the direct consequence of this update was that the shoe got a bit fatter, slightly increasing its weight. Thus, the Wave Inspire 13 follows the same line, featuring a similar design and almost identical technologies as the Wave Inspire 12 Although there are few changes, those few are quite significant.
The most significant of those changes is in the upgraded U4icX material, primarily in two places in the shoe. First, the redesigned midsole, which in this 13th version of the Inspire is more resilient, and is able to provide more responsiveness and support. Up to 33% more as indicated by the Japanese brand.
That revised U4icX compound also appears in the heel area, contributing to a softer landing, reinforced cushioning and a more comfortable underfoot feel. This comfort is further enhanced by the U4icX Strobel Lasting sockliner, already seen in an iconic model from the Japanese brand, such as the Mizuno Wave Rider 19 All this allows the mild to moderate pronator runner to enjoy smoother and more fluid transitions.
There is also an obvious improvement in the upper of the Mizuno Wave Inspire 13, which features a new seamless mesh design to promote both flexibility and ventilation of the shoe, thereby increasing comfort.
Last but not least, the Wave Inspire 13 has the characteristic 12-millimeter drop, as opposed to the 10-millimeter drop of the Inspire 12 for a more natural stride. While the weight remains the same, around 310 grams.
