The latest update of the powerful Mujin saga, the Mizuno Wave Mujin 5, lands on the market. A trail running shoe created for the most adventurous runners looking for maximum protection and stability on the most difficult surfaces and which in turn, also has the Gore-Tex version. The powerful alliance between the tire manufacturer Michelin and the Japanese brand Mizuno, has given magnificent results and proof of this are the new Mujin 5 and its predecessor, the Wave Mujin 4.
Undoubtedly, the latest update of this all-rounder has undergone some changes to continue with the firm purpose of being a benchmark in the trail running segment. There is no terrain difficult and unreachable enough for this Wave Mujin 5, since all the technologies implemented work in the same and unique direction: to provide maximum protection, support, stability and safety in each step. This trail running shoe is especially suitable for mountain runners with a neutral stride who want to carry out long runs on the most ambitious terrain .
The Mizuno Wave Mujin 5 continues the same trend as its predecessor; offering maximum stability, protection, grip and traction on the most complex surfaces. Therefore, it is essential to highlight the features and the different systems present in this trail running shoe. Among the features of the Wave Mujin 5, the outsole made in collaboration with the manufacturer Michelin deserves special mention. It is in this part of the shoe where they have chosen to include a rubber compound along with a self-cleaning lug design that contributes to greater traction and grip on a multitude of terrains. Undoubtedly, the designers of the Japanese brand continue to bet on the alliance with Michelin after observing the magnificent results obtained among the public.
To achieve maximum traction and safety, the manufacturer Mizuno has chosen to include the magnificent Xta Ride technologies in the midsole. In this case, they have opted for a greater presence of the Wave Concave technology combined with the Xta Groove flex channel. Between the outsole and the midsole we find the ESS Rock Plate, already present in the previous model, a small platform located in the forefoot that protects the foot from possible external impacts.
The upper has been revamped thanks to the implementation of a new mesh in the toe, creating a more attractive design. The new toe cap of these trail running shoes is reinforced with TPU material to increase the protection and durability of the model. In turn, the laces have also been modified, opting for round and braided laces typical of trail and outdoor. And to finish with the new features present in the Mujin 5, we have to highlight an extra reinforcement in the heel that provides greater protection and a feeling of stability.
As far as the technical specifications of the Mizuno Wave Mujin 5 are concerned, it is worth mentioning its 12mmdrop (18mm forefoot, 30mm heel). The weight, however, is 360 grams for the men's version while for the women's version it stands at 310 grams. We should also mention the GTX version of the Mujin 5, a model with a fully waterproof and breathable GoreTex® membrane. Undoubtedly, a reference trail running shoe that offers the best protection and stability on the most difficult surfaces, oriented to those runners with a neutral tread.
