Mizuno Wave Rebellion, main features

The Wave Rebellion Running shoes land to offer the perfect balance between flexibility and rigidity. How? In the following lines we will uncover all its details.

We start with the midsole, which incorporates a somewhat peculiar type of MIZUNO WAVE. It is a plate reinforced with fiberglass that, when the foot rests on the asphalt, bends to obtain excellent propulsion.

Mizuno Wave Rebellion, upper

After 25 years manufacturing WAVE plates, the Japanese firm, Mizuno, stands out for providing a silhouette that adapts perfectly to the different needs of runners with neutral footsteps.

The combination of this plate with fiberglass with MIZUNO ENERZY Lite technology, for a reactivity and lightness 35% higher.

The upper of this top-of-the-line cushioning running shoe features a one-piece fabric with a 3D logo design. It also features a gusset tongue for a unique fit mile after mile.

Mizuno Wave Rebellion, sole

The G3 outsole of this Wave Rebellion has been optimized to provide the grip needed to complete distances around 10k or half marathon on asphalt surfaces at very light paces.

Mizuno Wave Rebellion, technical specifications

Comfort, cushioning, reactivity and fit. These are the main features in which the Mizuno Wave Rebellion stand out. The combination of their technological compounds makes them 35% lighter and more reactive than other shoes with standard materials.

Designed for athletes with neutral footstep looking for the best sensations in race, they have a drop of 8mm and a light weight of 230 grams for men and 215 grams for women.

Mizuno Wave Rebellion, a shoes for almost everything

In these times, where carbon is the protagonist, it seems that a running shoe designed for fast running without this material is outdated. However, brands like Mizuno pleasantly surprise you when they launch a very interesting model such as the Mizuno Wave Rebellion.

Review of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion

At first glance, the Mizuno Wave Rebellion looks like a classic mixed shoe with ample cushioning and a relatively large drop (8 mm) for a model that promises to be a good choice for road racing.

This perception changes when you put them on and start to take the first strides with metatarsal support, a feeling of stability and contact with the asphalt that I haven't had for a long time.

The outsole of these Mizuno Wave Rebellion has a rubber compound that adheres to the asphalt as if they were nails. Underneath the rubber "studs" of the outsole, instead of the normal rubber layer, there is a semi-rigid plate of material reminiscent of fast running shoes models used decades ago. I do not mean that the model is outdated, but rather that this compound gives it greater rigidity, without being excessive, and helps in the propulsion of the foot.

Mizuno Wave Rebellion, runner profile

Runners who can benefit from this Mizuno model are medium-low weight athletes, with a neutral stride and looking for a comfortable shoe for training long runs or series of fast repetitions (in the case of runners with a higher level, < 4:15 min/km). On the other hand, runners with more discreet paces will find in this model a perfect companion for demanding training and competitions (4:15-4:30 min/km).

This mixed shoe stands out for its great versatility. The Mizuno Enerzy cushioning system allows for a perfect combination of cushioning, lightness and responsiveness. Moreover, although it is a mixed shoe, the cushioning in the rear part of the shoe is considerable, so that if we sometimes heel, these Mizuno Wave Rebellion will provide us with enough protection to continue our practice without any problem.

Review of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion, runner profile

The weight is something striking about this model, standing at 230 gr. for men and 215 gr. for women. A weight for this type of shoes which we will be grateful as our runs are becoming longer and longer.

Running paces

The truth is that it is difficult to set specific paces for this model. It is true that it is a shoe designed for fast running, but due to its build it is not a fast runner. As always, the paces of use will be set by the athlete, but I would be inclined to use it for runs, series, or competitions that we are going to do below 4:30 min/km and up to paces of 3:45 min/km . Although it should be noted that the inclusion in the midsole of a fiberglass plate gives more rigidity to the shoe, greater reactivity and a more efficient return of energy. This enables the Mizuno Wave Rebellion to be responsive at lower paces of 3 345 min/km.

Undoubtedly these Mizuno are a model for fast running, but this is not an impediment for not being in front of a shoes with an exceptional comfort that is difficult to beat by its competitors.

Distance

The distances where these Mizuno Wave Rebellion will move will be mainly competitions from 10 km to half marathon. However, the limit is set by the user and the user's technique. Although these Mizuno Wave Rebellion allow heel support, promoting a quick transition between heel and midfoot, they will give their best version when contacting the ground with the midfoot.

Review of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion, news

Leaving competition aside, this model can be very interesting for intense runs at competition pace, if we are preparing for a marathon. Long runs with these Mizuno should not scare us because it is a shoe with good support, good cushioning and excellent response.

What we liked best about the Mizuno Wave Rebellion

From the very first moment, we liked the design of the model. Without being strident, it is eye-catching, which is to be appreciated.

On the other hand, the lightness and responsiveness of the model has pleased us enormously, highlighting its versatility. In addition to the above, if we add a great comfort, we find ourselves with a shoes for almost everything .

Mizuno Wave Rebellion review, details

Opportunities for improvement of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion

As possible improvements I would highlight the grip of the outsole. On dry asphalt the grip is maximum, but when the ground has been wet the sensations have been completely opposite.
