The Mizuno Wave Sky 2 is one of Mizuno's best-selling Running shoes shoes, because it is a model that provides maximum cushioning for heavy runners, even those with mild pronation. It also offers a slightly firmer energy return.
In the second version of the Wave Sky, the Japanese brand continues to bet on maintaining the same midsole of the original version of the Mizuno Wave Sky, so the changes are to be found in the redesign of its upper, which contributes to a significant improvement and update this part of the shoe. The mission of this model is none other than to have a highly responsive feel.
As already seen in the first edition of the Wave Sky, if there is something for which this model stands out is its generous cushioning, which is also maintained in the Mizuno Wave Sky 2 with that new configuration of the Wave platform, both concave and convex, and that not only ensures cushioning capacity, but also stability. Thus, the inverted "L" shape in the midfoot area allows for some pronation correction, also adding reactivity to the stride.
The Mizuno Wave Sky 2 also features the exclusive U4ic compounds in the upper midsole for a softer and more cushioned ride. While in the lower part of the same U4icX is implemented to offer extra stability and reactivity.
Another detail that does not go unnoticed in the Wave Sky 2 is that its base is wide, which allows the model to be one of the best options to face long distance races.
As we have been saying, the most important changes in this second edition of the Wave Sky are located in its upper, which the designers of the Japanese company from Osaka have completely changed. The Engineered Mesh has been used, and it is assembled in two layers: more open in the areas where more breathability is required and thicker in those areas where more durability is needed.
Of course, this engineered mesh is more flexible than the Jacquard fabric of the previous version. Also noteworthy is the detail of the new AeroHug integrated system, which reflects the innovative update of the upper of the Mizuno Wave Sky 2.
In the outsole of these training shoes for heavy runners, it is still remarkable that Mizuno includes the most durable and resistant materials - read X10 compound, Smoothride system, etc -, whose main objective is to offer optimal grip, but without having to imply a decrease in the flexibility of the shoe.
All in all it must be said that it is true that the path of the Mizuno Wave Sky 2 is complicated if you have the Mizuno Wave Rider 22 as a reference, but these Wave Sky 2 are an excellent alternative to adapt to all types of training, offering cushioning, agility and responsiveness in each stride. Ideal option for heavy runners, who exceed 85 kilos, because they ensure firm step and durability.
