Ideal runner of the Mizuno Wave Sky 6

This Mizuno model is designed to devour kilometers stride for stride. A shoe for daily training and for use in long distance competitions such as the half or marathon. We will get the most out of it running at medium and slow paces, more or less above 4:45 min/km. Although it can be used by runners of all weights, it will be runners of medium to heavy weight, 80-85 kg for men and 70-75 kg for women, who will get the most out of them thanks to their very soft and pleasant feel.

Mizuno Wave Sky 6 Technical Specifications

To obtain the highest level of cushioning and reactivity, the designers of the Japanese company incorporate the Mizuno Enerzy Core foam material in its midsole, a compound capable of generating an ultra soft and comfortable tread. Despite being a shoe for running, the Enerzy technology provides a responsiveness worthy of mention, allowing us to step on the accelerator in those moments when we need it.

A priori, the design and materials that encompass the upper are very similar to its predecessors, the Mizuno Wave Sky 5 An upper that is not very ventilated at first glance, but is actually very breathable and lightweight. Both the collar that wraps the ankle and the area where the Achilles tendon contacts are very padded and are designed in a way that wraps the foot in a very pleasant way.

Continuing trend also in the sole. The Mizuno Wave Sky 6 features a durable compound with high levels of traction in all conditions and on all surfaces. Whether the weather is hot or rainy, riding with this model will always be a pleasant experience and a safe bet.

Mizuno Wave Sky 6: Maximum cushioning and comfort for running at leisurely paces

Although our goal with running is to run as comfortably as possible, enjoying the miles and regardless of what the heart rate monitor says, the choice of shoes is still fundamental. We will probably look for shoes with good cushioning, that give us some support if our running technique is not very refined, that offer comfortable sensations in each step and a soft touch on landing... The model we are going to analyze today more than fulfills each of these premises. Here we detail the virtues and some possible improvements of the Mizuno Wave Sky 6

For which audience we recommend the Mizuno Wave Sky 6

The Mizuno Wave Sky 6 is a road running shoes, ideal for those long runs at easy paces, above 4:50 m/km. A saloon within the concept that encompasses comfort, some support and great cushioning. They have a drop of 8 mm, which allows them to meet the needs of runners who tend to heel, as well as those whose landing support is more focused on the midfoot.

However, the ideal runner profile for these Mizuno Wave Sky 6 is a runner of medium to heavy weight, even over 90kg, looking for maximum protection and comfort in their daily runs without worrying about the time of the chrono. A shoe that incorporates a strong cushioning but with that extra reactivity that allows you to enjoy the moments when you are looking for a more lively pace.

It is an asphalt running shoe, but nevertheless it is very adaptable to dirt or gravel tracks and has excellent durability.

What did we like most about the Mizuno Wave Sky 6?

It's a running shoe that delivers what it promises. And it promises cushioning, softness, comfort and support. Cushioning thanks to a combination of Enerzy and Enerzy Core foams that complement each other perfectly to offer ample and soft running support. Secondly, comfort. We see it in every detail of this shoe. From its padded collar that protects the entire contour of the ankle and achilles, to the very soft and wide tongue where you will not feel the pressure of the laces.

As for the support, it is provided by the materials used in the upper, the stability of the Wave plate in the heel and midfoot area and the lacing that offers a very precise fit.

Another thing we enjoyed most is the price. Although their starting RRP is 180€, you can find them at RUNNEA for around 120€. And that for a top of the range shoe in cushioning and comfort is an adequate price.

Possible improvements for future editions

Weight is probably one of the few points to improve. And it's not an extremely heavy shoe depending on the runner's weight. If you are a runner under 75 kg and you are looking for cushioning, softness, comfort and support you will probably find other lighter models on the market. But if your weight is more than 75 - 80kg upwards, these Mizuno Wave Sky 6 are an excellent choice.

Rivals of the Mizuno Wave Sky 6

The segment of maximum cushioning and comfort shoes is probably the most competitive in the world of running shoes. Here are some of the rivals of the Mizuno Wave Sky 6
