1 / 2

The Mizuno Wave Sky series is known for its commitment to comfort and performance in long distance running. Each new version of these shoes seeks to enhance the running experience by offering maximum cushioning and the Mizuno Wave Sky 7, the latest addition to this series, is no exception and continues the legacy of providing a smooth and stable ride.

Runner profile of the Mizuno Wave Sky 7

The Wave Sky 7 are ideal running shoes for runners with a neutral stride. These shoes are Mizuno's most cushioned shoes, making them perfect for runners who plan to run long distances.

Mizuno Wave Sky 7

Thanks to their maximum cushioning and support, the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 are ideal for marathons and other long-distance races. However, their comfort and durability also make them suitable for everyday training.

More cushioning and return

This Mizuno Wave Sky 7 has been completely revamped from its previous model Mizuno Wave Sky 6 from the upper to the outsole. Now they have more cushioning and energy return thanks to the midsole renovation, which has added 5 mm of extra foam. The new outsole provides a smoother transition from heel to toe.

Smooth Stretch Upper

Smooth Stretch upper fabric is soft and comfortable on the feet. This material provides elasticity in the forefoot and also ensures good breathability. Thanks to an adjustment in mesh thickness, the Sky 7 ventilates much better than its predecessor. At least 50% of the upper is made from recycled materials.

Two-layer midsole

The great strength of the Wave Sky 7 is the midsole consisting of two layers. The upper layer is composed of MIZUNO ENERZY CORE and the lower layer is made of MIZUNO ENERZY foam. This ensures softer landings and great energy return with every step. The two layers overlap in a wavy pattern, this is called Wave technology. This technology prevents side impact and improves stability.

X10 carbon rubber

X10 carbon rubber has been added to the outside of the heel for increased wear resistance. The forefoot of these running shoes contains arrow-shaped flex grooves across the entire width for smooth transition. The outsole is relatively wide under the forefoot and heel, so you experience more stability.

Mizuno Wave Sky 7 Technical Specifications

The Mizuno Wave Sky 7 has an 8 mmdrop, which promotes a more natural and balanced stride, which can help reduce fatigue on long runs.

Mizuno Wave Sky 7: maximum cushioning and comfort for your runs at gentle paces

I have been analyzing 123 running shoes in RUNNEA, and looking at the brands I have tested I realize that Mizuno is considered one of the big ones, one of the models that I have been able to test the least. That's why I was really looking forward to this Mizuno Wave Sky 7. So I took advantage of the summer vacations to test them for more than 150 km in various conditions and terrains. By the way, these shoes are the latest addition to the Mizuno Wave Sky series, known for its commitment to comfort and performance in long distance running. Let's take a closer look at the review...

Mizuno Wave Sky 7

A first look at the Mizuno Wave Sky 7

The Mizuno Wave Sky 7 are running shoes designed for neutral runners. They are Mizuno's most cushioned shoes, which makes them perfect for runners who enjoy long distances. They have an 8 mm drop, which favors a more natural and balanced stride, which can help reduce fatigue on long runs.

One of the most notable new features of this model is that the height of the midsole has increased by 4 millimeters. We now have 41mm in the rearfoot and 33mm in the forefoot profile. This increase in midsole height provides greater cushioning and comfort during the race.

As for the weight, in a size 95 US, the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 weighs 307 grams. Despite their sturdiness and the addition of more foam in the midsole, these shoes maintain a reasonable weight, making them suitable for long distance running. The shoe doesn't weigh below those 300 grams in my size 95 US.

Ideal runner type for the Mizuno Wave Sky 7

Mizuno Wave Sky 7 review

The Mizuno Wave Sky 7 is ideal for neutral runners looking for a shoe with maximum cushioning for long distances at easy paces. Their design and features make them perfect for medium to heavy runners looking for a durable and comfortable shoe for training and racing up to marathon.

Ideal distances

Thanks to their maximum cushioning and support, the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 is ideal for marathons and other long-distance races. However, their comfort and durability also make them suitable for daily training and middle and long distance races. Always at light paces

What's new in the model

The Wave Sky 7 have been completely revamped compared to the previous model. They now have more cushioning and energy return thanks to the renewed midsole, to which 5 mm of extra foam has been added. The new outsole provides a smoother transition from heel to toe. In addition, the height of its midsole has increased by up to 4 millimeters, providing a profile of 41mm in the rear and 33mm in the forefoot. This translates into a smoother and more comfortable ride. But be aware that it is also a very stable shoe due to the width of its last.

What I liked the most

What I liked most about the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 is its commitment to comfort and performance in long distance running. The combination of MIZUNO ENERZY CORE and MIZUNO ENERZY technology in the midsole provides exceptional cushioning and great energy return, making every step more efficient. In addition, the Smooth Stretch upper is soft and comfortable on the feet, providing proper breathability.

Possible improvements

While the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 is an exceptional shoe, there is always room for improvement. In future versions, I would like to see a reduction in the weight of the shoe to make it even more suitable for long distance racing for runners under 75 kg. Also, while breathability has improved compared to the previous model, there is still room for improvement in this area.

Our sensations running with the Mizuno Wave Sky 7

During the more than 150 km I have run with the Mizuno Wave Sky 7, I have experienced an exceptional level of running comfort and smoothness. The midsole revamp, with that extra 5 of foam, provides maximum cushioning that translates into a smoother transition from heel to toe.

In addition, the Smooth Stretch upper is soft and comfortable underfoot. This material provides elasticity in the forefoot and also ensures good breathability. Thanks to an adjustment in the thickness of the mesh, the Sky 7 ventilates much better than its predecessor.

Running with the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 is therefore an experience of softness and comfort. The midsole, composed of MIZUNO ENERZY CORE in the upper layer and MIZUNO ENERZY foam in the lower layer, ensures softer landings and great energy return with every step. The two layers overlap in a wavy pattern, this is called Wave technology. This technology prevents side impact and improves stability, providing a stable and secure running feel.

Conclusion

The Mizuno Wave Sky 7 is a high-quality running shoe that offers a maximum level of comfort, running smoothness and convenience. They are a solid choice for any runner looking to enhance their running experience, especially over longer distances. With their increased midsole height and reasonable weight, these shoes are designed to provide a superior running experience.
