Mizuno 's Wave Ultima family is one of the Japanese brand's best sellers. Especially in its latest models launched on the market, its success lies in its balance between weight, cushioning and stability that make it a sure hit. But if the performance of the Mizuno Wave Ultima 7 already left a good taste among neutral runners, the eighth version of the Wave Ultima comes on strong, and with the idea of improving its predecessor. Mizuno has taken on this responsibility, although Mizuno has opted to incorporate the latest technologies developed to achieve this goal.
In this sense, the great novelty of the Mizuno Wave Ultima 8 is located in its renewed upper, which seeks not only to provide the runner with an ideal fit, but also to increase the comfort of the model.
In addition, and as already seen in other reference models of the Japanese firm, such as the Wave Inspire 12 or the Wave Enigma 6, this eighth generation of the Wave Ultima also brings with it the new U4icX compound, as a star section in the cushioning of the midsole, and arranged in the heel area. In this way, the model is able to offer an excellent energy return, but also a smoother and more fluid transition. Not to forget that this cushioning aspect is reinforced by the Wave plate and the lightweight U4ic compound.
The outsole of the Wave Ultima 8 undergoes a small variation in the forefoot area with the idea of improving flexibility, and therefore increasing the responsiveness of the model, but Mizuno is clear that the formula for success is to bet on what works, and therefore continues to maintain materials as characteristic as the X10 compound, arranged in the parts most exposed to wear, and that tries to prolong the life of the shoe.
All in all, the Mizuno Wave Ultima 8 is a perfect choice for medium to heavy runners (over 80 kg for men and over 65 kg for women). The model is designed for runners with a neutral stride, and who prefer to enjoy a running shoe with maximum cushioning, but without sacrificing features that contribute to a dynamic and reactive shoe.
