Salomon Out Path GTX

For 2017 Salomon seeks to surprise its users with new sporting goods in which the main objective is innovation and better use of technologies. Within this desire for innovation Salomon presents a new edition of shoes for hiking within the category that the firm has called Hike+, an offer for those who practice hiking but also love other sports and combine them; the idea is to provide a shoe that can withstand the demands of the most difficult trails but at the same time adapt efficiently to other activities, such as trail running.

This is how the Salomon Out Path GTX is presented , a multipurpose, agile and lightweight shoe that combines materials designed to facilitate freedom of movement in the mountains, but at the same time manage to keep the foot protected and cushioned.

Upper of the Salomon Out Path GTX

The difference of this line of shoes compared to other styles of Salomon for trail running or hiking, is that it has chosen a seamless upper, in which the different materials are joined by thermosealing to allow greater flexibility of the shoe and reduce its overall weight. The Out Path GTX is the lightest shoe in its category, weighing only 280 grams, which makes it ideal for longer sports without the feet feeling tired.

The upper is covered with a mesh that prevents the passage of loose material into the shoe, while facilitating the passage of air into the interior to keep the foot cool. The Salomon Out Path GTX features GORETEX technology which is a waterproof material that is designed to protect the shoe and the foot from leaks.

For added foot protection, an internal toe cap is placed in the toe and heel area to keep the foot safe from contact with sharp surfaces.

Cushioning

It seems that the cushioning of these shoes continues to be provided by injected EVA rubber as already seen in other Salomon shoes. This rubber in addition to keeping the weight of the shoe fairly light, offers a good response when it comes to cushioning, and also provides a soft layer under the foot that keeps the sole of the foot protected from surface variations.

Outsole

The outsole is undoubtedly one of the fundamental points to take into account when buying a trail running shoe. In this edition we will see the use of Contagrip, a technology that has already been used for the sole of other Salomon shoes. This highly durable rubber covers and protects the midsole from contact with the surface. The lugs of these shoes are aggressive and prominent, their multidirectional design provides balanced traction on different types of terrain.

Fit

The fit of this shoe will be maintained at a mid-point, meaning that the center section of the shoe conforms properly to the contours of the foot, but at the same time provides enough room in the toe area to facilitate movement. The curvature of the shoe allows it to better adapt to the natural anatomy of the foot.

The Salomon Out Path GTX shoes are part of the fall/winter 2017 catalog of the firm and although we will still have to wait a bit to see them, the features that Salomon has presented promise to make these shoes a suitable footwear for all adventure sports.
