The French firm Salomon arrives in 2017 with a good number of innovations in its shoes and the expansion of its catalog to adapt to a greater number of sports practices and types of athletes. Proof of this is the arrival of the Salomon Sense Ride shoes, which promise to become one of the most versatile models in the new catalog for trail running and with the right technologies for long-distance races.

Therefore, we will see how the Sense collection expands with the addition of these new shoes which offer a higher level of comfort and cushioning, but also the ability to adapt to different types of terrain, making them a versatile shoes.

Upper of the Salomon Sense Ride

Salomon outsole

The upper of these shoes remains quite similar to that of the Sense line. First we find a mesh with good ventilation and comfort, which also has a point of flexibility that allows the foot to move freely but at the same time keeps it protected from loose material.

The Salomon Sense Ride also has the Ortholite insole, which has antibacterial properties, so it minimizes moisture inside the shoe and the bad odors produced by that reason.

Sensifit technology is present in these shoes with the use of synthetic prints on the sides that are attached to the lacing system to improve the fit of the shoe and provide better structure. This is complemented by the Endofit system, a soft and lightweight inner material that allows for a fabric-like feel to the foot.

As for the fit of the shoe, this edition has been slightly modified to offer more room in the toe area and make the shoe less restrictive; the forefoot now has more freedom of movement, but still has enough of a snug fit so that the shoe does not feel loose.

The laces of the shoes are thin and round, this quality, according to the firm, improves the lacing system by making it easier and faster to adjust. Although some runners have not been fond of this type of lacing, they do their job well in keeping the shoe snug and locking the tongue in place.

Midsole

Cushioning systems are part of the innovations Salomon has made to their new editions of shoes. For this line, the midsole incorporates a new compound called Vibe, which not only offers an excellent level of cushioning, but also reduces vibrations when running.

The EnergyCell+ compound is also part of the midsole of these shoes to achieve a better midsole structure. Between the midsole and outsole is ProFeel Film material, a lightweight TPU layer that is intended to protect the sole of the foot from sharp materials that may be encountered during running.

Outsole

Salomon outsole

The Salomon Sense Ride shoes use High Abrasion Contragrip rubber in the outsole area. This compound designed by Salomon offers incredible grip on different types of terrain, both on hard surfaces and on loose or wet terrain. This sole is also reinforced in the areas most prone to abrasion, which adds durability to this edition of shoes.

The lug remains the same as in other shoes in the Sense line, with a medium prominence, another factor that gives the shoe versatility to adapt to different surfaces.

The Salomon Sense shoes are therefore an edition with good features to take them to different types of trail running demands, with good performance in cushioning, comfort and grip.
