More and more runners are daring to make the leap from asphalt to running in the mountains. And it goes without saying that the adventure requires the best footwear to ensure the most appropriate performance to adapt as quickly as possible to the change. When looking for that specific model, it is necessary to talk about the so-called transition shoes, which make the transition from asphalt to trailrunning easier, more bearable and less "traumatic".
Such is the case of the third version of the Salomon X Mission, which appears in the catalog of the prestigious French brand within the Light Trails range. Such labeling makes it a model suitable for trail running, but with sensations very close to the asphalt, but with special emphasis on exceptional grip. Such a circumstance does not mean that the Salomon X Mission 3 renounce their hallmarks, such as: good cushioning, great lightness and optimum comfort. In addition to being a model focused for not very technical terrain.
As in previous versions, the Salomon X Mission 3 also uses a midsole made of an injected EVA compound in a single piece. To which we must also add a high profile, since the model has a drop of 10 millimeters.
A whole compendium of features that are put at the service of the runner to provide a lighter and easier adaptation process, while presenting a cushioning capacity worthy of note, and that allows running on all types of terrain, as long as it is not very technical.
The outsole of the Salomon X Mission 3 also stands out for the combination of the most advanced technologies of the French firm. That is, the Contragrip technology, designed to increase the life of the shoe, because it improves, significantly, the facet of anti-abrasion in the areas most exposed to wear. And on the other hand, this model also incorporates the Wet Tracticon system, which, as its name suggests, offers improved traction, and therefore optimal stability on wet terrain, and even in snow.
The upper of the Salomon X Mission 3 has a 3D mesh and very porous, so this technical mesh ensures good breathability, without reducing other features such as durability and protection. In addition, the SensiFit overlay system contributes to a more secure foot wrap and a more personalized fit.
Salomon 's characteristic Quicklace system is also present in the third version of the X Mission, although as a novelty it includes new eyelets to reduce tension, and also reinforces the fit of the model.
In short, conceived as a transition shoe, the Salomon X Mission 3 features technical specifications of a 10-millimeter drop to ensure optimal cushioning, and with high profiles (27mm/17mm). While their weights are 290 grams for the male model, and 250 grams for the female version, so we are talking about a rather light shoe.
As a last note to take into account the Salomon X Mission 3 is the inclusion of the ClimaShield system to make it a waterproof model. An element that Salomon Running's versatile X Mission family lacked until now.
